The ‘Princess Switch’ actress, ‘Riverdale’ actor Charles Melton and ‘The Hunger Games’ hunk Alexander Ludwig will star in the movie along with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
Vanessa Hudgens is to play cop in her next feature film. The “High School Musical” actress has been tapped to star in a new “Bad Boys” movie, “Bad Boys for Life”, which has had Will Smith and Martin Lawrence on board to reprise their roles as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively.
The Rizzo of FOX’s “Grease: Live” is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming movie along with two other actors, Charles Melton and Alexander Ludwig. The three of them will play a modern, highly specialized police unit that collides with the old school Bad Boys (Smith and Lawrence) when a new threat emerges in Miami, Variety reports.
Joe Pantoliano is additionally set to reprise his role as Captain Howard. There’s still no word on who will play the main villain, and it’s unknown if Gabrielle Union will return as Martin’s onscreen sister, Special Agent Sydney ‘Syd’ Burnett’
Filming is scheduled to begin in January for theatrical release on January 17, 2020 in the United States. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct from the script penned by Chris Bremmer, with earlier drafts by Peter Craig (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”, “Transformers”) and Joe Carnahan (“The A-Team”).
Jerry Bruckheimer will return as producer with Doug Belgrad, while Smith Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, Chad Oman and James Lassiter serve as executive producers.
Hudgens recently stars in Netflix’s Christmas movie “The Princess Switch” and romantic comedy “Second Act”, which features Jennifer Lopez in the lead role. Melton is currently a series regular on The CW’s series “Riverdale”, portraying Reggie Mantle. He also had guest-starring roles on “Glee” and “American Horror Story”.
As for Ludwig, his notable film credits include “The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising” and “The Hunger Games” where he portrays Cato. He currently stars as a series regular on History channel’s series “Vikings”.
