Toni Braxton’s fiance Birdman is keen for the pair to tie the knot before 2019 although the couple has yet to set a date.
The “Un-Break My Heart” singer began dating the Cash Money Records boss almost two years ago, and teased their engagement in a trailer for her family’s hit WeTV reality show “Braxton Family Values” in February.
Toni is planning a “vintage ’20s and ’30s-like Great Gatsby themed” wedding however, during an appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show” on Tuesday, November 13, she revealed that family drama has delayed things.
“We almost had a date,” the 51-year-old told host Wendy Williams. “Well, we had two dates, but we were doing Braxton Family Values and we were going through a little drama, and I was like, ‘The wedding is a good thing to get all the sisters together,’ and I couldn’t get us all together.”
However, her 49-year-old fiance is pushing Toni to set a date before 2019, and she admitted there’s a 70 per cent chance that it will happen before the new year.
“He told me we’re getting married before the end of the year is up,” she explained to People. “He’s talking about crazy things. Like, ‘Let’s just go to Vegas.’ And I want the dress!”
It will be the second marriage for Toni who was previously wed to musician Keri Lewis for 12 years. The couple who share two sons – Denim, 16, and Diezel, 15 – divorced in 2013.
The “Breathe Again” hitmaker also shared that her husband-to-be wants macaroni and cheese to be on the menu and he doesn’t want to marry in Atlanta.
“He wants to get married in California. We talked about Atlanta, but he said no because he didn’t want any remnants of my first wedding,” the songstress explained. “My sisters will probably be bridesmaids… and I’m going to have my dad give me away and my sons will meet him halfway and finish it. I’m excited about that,” she gushed.
