About the honor in the ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ star’s acting, Variety co-editor-in-chief Claudia Eller says that no actor has had a bigger year than the actress in 2018.
Emily Blunt will be honoured with the Creative Impact Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival later this week (begins December 31).
The “Mary Poppins Returns” star will be feted for her year in acting and roles in hit film “A Quiet Place” and the sequel to the classic musical at the Parker Palm Springs in California on Friday, January 04.
“No actor has had a bigger year than Emily Blunt in 2018,” Variety co-editor-in-chief Claudia Eller says. “From playing a mother fighting to save her family’s life in “A Quiet Place” to tackling one of cinema’s iconic characters in the musical “Mary Poppins Returns”, Emily Blunt has proven to be a versatile and commanding actress who can cross genres easily and with great success.”
Previous recipients of the accolade include Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, and Steve Carell.
In addition to the Creative Impact Award, Blunt has been nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards for both films and a Golden Globe Award for “Mary Poppins Returns”.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Ryan Coogler will be presented with the Creative Impact in Directing Award by his “Black Panther” cast members at the festival.
