The ‘Black Panther’ actress is the latest actor to leave the show after Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan.

AceShowbiz –
Another fan-favorite character on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is bidding farewell. Danai Gurira, who plays lead female character Michonne is departing from the zombie apocalypse drama in season 10, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sources claim to the site that the “Black Panther” actress will reprise her iconic katana-wielding character in a limited capacity in season 10 which is said to be her final season. It is reported that she will only appear in a handful of episodes in the upcoming season.

Additionaly, her contract allegedly mentions that she will be featured in one or more of the three spin-off TV movies centering on Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes that the network is developing. It’s not that surprising because Rick and Michonne are involved in a romantic relationship in the recent seasons.

AMC and Danai’s representatives declined to comment on the report.

The site previously reported that the actress was in talks to exit the series, which brings her to fame after she joined in season 3. Danai allegedly was “in prolonged negotiations with AMC that were further complicated by her status as a breakout actress with hits under her belt including ‘Black Panther’.”

Danai is the latest actor to leave the show after Andrew and Lauren Cohan. The latter previously teased that it’s possible to have AMC developing a Maggie spin-off considering that Rick Grimes TV movies are currently in the works. “There may have been some conversations,” Lauren said during her appearance at ABC’s Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, February 5. “But everything is so early-days, ambigous. We’ll have to see what happens.”

AMC recently announced season 10 renewal of “The Walking Dead” that will arrive in October. Meanwhile, the show returns for the back half of season 9 on February 10 on AMC.
