Many have expressed disappointment after K104 and KRNB radio stations decide to stop playing the singer’s music, with one upset user reminding people to ‘separate art from the artist.’

AceShowbiz –
The premiere of docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly” has prompted several musicians to publicly declare that they are no longer supporting R. Kelly, and now two radio stations have apparently joined them. Hip-Hop/R&B radio stations K104 and KRNB in Dallas have announced their decision to stop playing Kelly’s music from their stations again.

“Smooth R&B 105.7 and K104 made the decision to drop R. Kelly’s music from our playlist due to outpouring of concern from our listeners regarding Kelly’s alleged sexual assaults of underage girls,” so the statement read. “There are no immediate plans to drop music from any other artists.”

Following the announcement, KRNB host Claudia Jordan went into greater detail during her morning show. “Up against the background of what we know… Where there were girls actually locked up in rooms and urinating in buckets and held against their will, even if they were over 18, [Kelly’s music] just has a different meaning now,” she said.

“I just feel like, in good conscience, we just can’t continue to support this guy,” she continued. “Sadly there are a lot of people out there and what they do in their work they are talented people but they have demons. And I feel like as a woman that is an advocate for other women… We cannot support this man anymore. I’ve been a victim of abuse from a man, and it wasn’t as extreme as this. But reading all the comments, we have to at some point take a stance.”

But it appears not everyone agreed to the stations’ decision. Many have expressed disappointment in the station for choosing to ban Kelly’s music altogether, with one internet user reminding them to “separate the art from the artist.” Another added, “How in the hell can you say all of his songs come from those victims killed that s**t I mean damn wow discredit work because of image your building.”

One even went as far as urging other to boycott the radio station, saying, “Watch there ratings drop and see how quickly they mute these a**es.” One other said, “Don’t support this show anymore,” as someone left a rather lengthy message which read, “Who are you to take my choice, If I want to listen to his music or now.. Didn’t you just make a choice not to finish playing his music, shame on yall. I do not support this show anymore. If I don’t want to listen, it’s my choice to turn the station.”

Reps for both radio stations have yet to respond to the criticism.
