For some reason, this week has been quite the roller-coaster ride for Bronx femcee Cardi B. From sporadic backlash, some insinuating her radio play is a payola scheme, and an apparent beef with Nicki Minaj, it seems as though the “Bickenhead” baddie needs a break from the madness. Instead of her typical clapback, she channeled her Hispanic roots in a hilariously sweet Instagram video.
With the background assistance of her little sister, Hennessy, everyone’s favorite half-Dominican, half-Trini rapper decided to remix Mexican-American icon Selena’s timeless hit, “Dreaming of You.” While gracefully positioned atop a piano, Bardi’s remix is a shout out to Jesus, her blessings, and her mother’s prayers with a subtle jab at her haters.
“Late at night when all the world is sleeping, you stay up and think of me and you wish on a star that I will be gone, but I’m still here. ‘Cause I’m blessed by Jesus Christ and tomorrow I will still be alright and there’s no one in this world that can take that from me, ’cause my mother prays for me and Hennessy.”
Welp, guess Cardi will remain blessed and unbothered.
