At the the season 2 premiere of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’, the Lieutenant Commander Paul Stamets depicter admits to reporters he was able to come forward because he felt protected.

AceShowbiz –
Anthony Rapp spoke out against Kevin Spacey in an effort to “make a difference.”

Back in 2017, the “Star Trek: Discovery” actor alleged the Oscar winner pinned him to a bed in his apartment during a party in 1986, when Rapp was just 14.

The claims prompted bosses at streaming service Netflix to fire Spacey from hit drama “House of Cards”, and he was edited out of director Ridley Scott’s Getty family kidnapping film “All the Money in the World” – and replaced by Christopher Plummer.

Since Rapp came forward, several others have accused the 59-year-old of inappropriate sexual behaviour.

Rapp recently explained that he was prompted to speak out in the wake of the #MeToo movement, as he was keen to put a stop to Spacey’s behaviour.

“I mean, honestly, I was just concerned that it was something that would keep happening, so if I could do something that could make a difference, I was eager to,” he told reporters at the the season two premiere of “Star Trek: Discovery” in New York.

And the actor was confident in making his accusations public, as he was supported by friends and family.

“I felt protected in a sense, of like the people I had in my corner were very supportive,” Rapp explained. “I felt if anything bad were to happen, that I’d have help through that.”

The actor responded to Rapp’s allegations in 2017 with a statement in which he went public with his homosexuality.

“I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave as he described, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years,” Spacey wrote at the time.

The “American Beauty” star recently appeared in court to face allegations he groped an 18-year-old in a Massachusetts restaurant in 2016.
